INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

On 23 November 2012 the Association of Interpreters and Translators in Bulgaria held an international conference at the National Justice Institute. The event was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and was supported by New Bulgarian
University. The topic of the conference was:

"The situation of court interpretation in Bulgaria and the transposition of Directive 2010/64/EU of the European parliament and of the Council on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings".

Report from a FIT Europe Board member

Dear Colleagues

 

FIT Europe Board member, John O'Shea, is giving a paper entitled "Fixing what's broken: The importance of using professional legal translators" at the ELIA Together 2020 conference for freelancers next month.

John has prepared a short survey for legal translators, the results of which will feed into this paper.

The survey is intended both for translators who do only legal translation and those who do legal in addition to other subject areas.

We would be very grateful if you could participate in the survey.

EULITA's Open letter

To all Governments in Europe,

On behalf of EULITA, the European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association, I would like to express my profound sorrow at the loss of lives and all the difficulties your government and your country are currently experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The pandemic has developed into an unprecedented crisis which has a devastating effect on us all.

Interview: Marianna Hill on the Petition of the literary translators (in Bulgarian only)

Преди дни близо над 260 преводачи на художествена литература у нас излязоха с отворено писмо, с което призовават за актуализиране на тарифите на преводите. Те настояват минималната тарифа да не е под 10 лева на стандартна страница за превод на художествена проза от чужд на български език, като и да бъдат осигурени договори, в които се предвижда отстъпването на авторското право на преводача за определен срок съгласно Закона за авторското право и сродните му права. Оказва се обаче, че проблемът е много по-сложен. У нас няма закон, който да урежда дейността на преводачите.
